"I didn't think Michael Raithel could outdo his previous book, but he has. This is an outstanding publication and should be required reading for everyone writing SAS programs. Implementing a single one of Michael's recommendations could save installations hundreds, and probably thousands, of dollars. His explanations are crystal clear for both novices and experienced SAS programmers. I was especially impressed with the comprehensive chapter on indexes, which presents a simple but effective method of reducing CPU cycles. Elimination of sort steps by using indexes could save an incredible amount of time.
Don't miss Michael's recommendation in Chapter 1 to create a set of performance standards based on recommendations from this book. If you want to improve SAS application performance, this book is an absolute must-have reference."
