Calvert photo William S. Calvert directs a drug safety monitoring program at a government agency. Formerly, he provided contract research services to the pharmaceutical, health care, and insurance industries. Calvert's background includes a broad range of publications, SUGI presentations, and several years of providing computing support at the National Institutes of Health. He has over 16 years experience using SAS software with emphasis on research data management, data analysis, and statistical computing and design. Bill co-authored Concepts and Case Studies in Data Management.

Cantor photo Alan Cantor, leader of the Biostatistics Core at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, earned his Ph.D. degree in mathematics and had an additional two-year post-doctoral fellowship in biostatistics. His SAS software experience spans an 18-year period with extensive use of base SAS, SAS/STAT, and SAS/GRAPH software. Published in several prestigious medical journals and in noted scientific and statistical publications such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Statistics in Medicine, Alan continues to teach, write about, and study the methods of survival analysis research. Carpenter photo Arthur L. Carpenter uses SAS/GRAPH software extensively and has presented award-winning papers at SAS Users Group International (SUGI) on several SAS/GRAPH topics. Many years of experience writing and teaching courses on SAS/GRAPH have established Art as an expert in the use of SAS/GRAPH. His experience has convinced him that the best and easiest way to learn is by example. Art co-authored Quick Results with SAS/GRAPH Software, and he explored his extensive use of the SAS macro language when he wrote Carpenter's Complete Guide to the SAS Macro Language. Cody photo Ronald P. Cody, Ed.D., co-author of Applied Statistics and the SAS Programming Language, Fourth Edition, has over 17 years of experience using the SAS System. Davis photo Charles S. Davis is Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Iowa. He received his Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. His research and teaching interests include categorical data analysis and methods for the analysis of repeated measures. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a statistician at a medical center and in the pharmaceutical industry. Charles is co-author of Categorical Data Analysis Using the SAS System

Dickstein photo Craig Dickstein, an independent Consultant, works with clients and select project teams to implement customized business solutions for the healthcare industry. He began his career in medical research, gaining an appreciation for the rigors of applied research methodology. A SAS user since 1978, he has significant experience managing and developing SAS applications, statistical analysis, and data management. With a Masters degree in statistics, Craig served as Director of Statistical Services with Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire. Craig has a long history of SAS user group involvement including a stint on the Executive Committee of the NorthEast SAS Users Group, Inc. Dilorio photo Frank Dilorio is Director of SAS System development at Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Solutions Corporation (AIMS, Co), a manufacturing systems integrator that is also a SAS Quality Partner. He has over 23 years' experience with base SAS and products such as SAS/GRAPH, SAS/AF, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/QC, SAS/Intrnet, and SAS/FSP. During his career, Frank has worked in educational research, financial, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing environments, focusing on program efficiency, report-writing, the macro language, and user interface design issues. Frank has authored many papers for local, regional, and international SAS users groups. He also wrote SAS Applications Programming: A Gentle Introduction and co-authored Quick Start to Data Analysis with SAS. He is currently writing a third book, The Elements of SAS Programming Style. Frank is active in the SouthEast SAS Users Group (SESUG), where he has served as conference co-chair and as president of the group.

Dmitrienko photo Alex Dmitrienko, Ph.D., is principal research scientist at Eli Lilly and Company. Actively involved in biostatistical research, Alex has published papers on multiple testing, group sequential inferences, and analysis of categorical data with clinical trial applications. He is coauthor of Analysis of Clinical Trails Using SAS: A Practical Guide. His other professional interests include software implementation of new and existing statistical methods.

Dilorio photo Sunil K. Gupta has written and presented numerous papers about ODS at the local, regional, and international SAS users group conferences, including an invited paper for SUGI 27 and SUGI 26 titled "Using Styles and Templates to Customize SAS ODS Output." He presented another invited paper about ODS in the Beginners Tutorial section of SUGI 27. Sunil developed and taught "Customized Reports with SAS Output Delivery System" at the regional Western Users of SAS Software conference and at several large corporations.

Sunil has been working with ODS since it was introduced. His experience includes projects that use ODS for RTF file generation with SAS applications such as a case report form tracking information system, which is essential for clinical data compliance. Hatcher photo Larry Hatcher is Assistant Professor of Psychology at Saginaw Valley State University. He received his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Bowling Green State University in 1983. He was introduced to the SAS System in 1978 while working on his Ph.D. degree. Over the years, Larry has used the SAS System to analyze data for empirical research projects and now teaches his own students how to use the SAS System. Hatcher is the author of A Step-by-Step Approach to Using the SAS System for Univariate and Multivariate Statistics (co-authored with Ed Stepanski) and A Step-by-Step Approach to Using the SAS System for Factor Analysis and Structural Equation Modeling.

  Jay A. Jaffe, earned his Ph.D. in applied psychology at the University of North Carolina (birthplace of the SAS System!) and has been a practicing SAS software developer for over 20 years. Kirk received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Miami. He is the author of PROC SQL: Beyond the Basics Using SAS and more than 100 peer-reviewed technical articles. Littell photo Ramon C. Littell, Ph.D., is a professor of statistics at the University of Florida, where he teaches several courses in statistics and a course in data analysis using SAS software. Ray is a former SUGI chair and was closely associated with the Southern Regional Project that funded development of SAS software at North Carolina State University. He co-authored SAS System for Linear Models, Third Edition; SAS System for Regression, Second Edition; SAS System for Mixed Models; and SAS System for Elementary Statistical Analysis, Second Edition. Ray holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Oklahoma State University, and he is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He has used SAS software since the mid-1970s.

Morgan photo Derek P. Morgan is a database administrator in the Division of Statistical Genomics at Washington University School of Medicine. He designs, develops, and supports data entry/ management systems using SAS/AF and SAS/FSP for medical research. Derek also directs the compilation and documentation of data for several collaborative studies. He is very skilled at using the DATA step and macro language to process raw data and generate reports; in 1991 Derek created a macro library that allowed users to format SAS output in PostScript via the DATA step.

In addition to presenting many in-house seminars on topics in applications development, research data management, and advanced Base SAS, Derek has taught Base SAS to new users for many years. A SAS user for over 20 years and former president of the Midwest SAS Users Group, Derek has received several awards at both SUGI and regional users group conferences. In his spare time, he plays bass guitar and has played bass with two members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Naik photo Dayanand N. Naik is an associate professor of statistics at Old Dominion University. Pass photo Ray Pass, Ph.D., owns Ray Pass Consulting and has used the SAS System for too many years. He is co-author, with Ron Cody, of Programming SAS by Example and has delivered invited papers at national, regional, and local SAS user groups. Ray's primary areas of expertise in the SAS System are report generation and data manipulation. In addition to teaching SAS courses, he is also active in organizing and participating in SAS users group functions on various levels. Ray was one of the founders of both the New York Area SAS Users Group (NYASUG) and the NorthEast SAS Users Group (NESUG). Wang photo Morgan C. Wang, Ph.D., is a statistician with a solid theoretical and applied background in meta-analysis. He has supervised several research reports using SAS software to implement meta-analytic procedures. One of these reports was presented at the SAS Users Group International Conference (1994), and another report was presented at the Joint Statistical Annual Meetings (1995). Morgan has over a decade of experience working with the SAS System and has taught SAS/GRAPH short courses and other graduate-level statistical courses using SAS software. With Dr. Brad J. Bushman, Morgan wrote Integrating Results through Meta-Analytic Review Using SAS Software.

zdeb photo Mike Zdeb, a research scientist at the Center for Community Health in the New York State Department of Health, is also an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the University at Albany School of Public Health. He has completed numerous projects involving the creation of maps to illustrate health-related data. Most recently, Mike worked on a project that uses maps to help county health departments develop community health assessment plans.

As part of a course on advanced topics in SAS, Mike instructs his class on the use of SAS/GRAPH¨ to produce maps. He is also a co-instructor of a course on GIS and public health.

Mike has been a SAS user since 1986 and has presented at SUGI, NESUG, and local SAS users group meetings. He is the author of Maps Made Easy Using SAS.
