Analyzing and Interpreting Continuous Data Using JMP: A Step-by-Step Guide

About the Book

coming soon Analyzing and Interpreting Continuous Data Using JMP: A Step-by-Step Guide
By: Brenda Ramirez and José Ramirez
ISBN: 978-1-59994-488-3

Anticipated publication date: Spring 2009

This book will be designed to serve as a reference to solve common problems in science and engineering using statistical techniques. It will consist of approximately 10 chapters that include topics found in an introductory statistics course, such as, graphical tools, descriptive statistics, tests of hypothesis, and linear regression. Each chapter will start with a problem description from engineering or science and be followed by succinct step-by-step instructions for how to carry out the steps involved using statistical techniques and how to execute them in JMP. The chapter will conclude with some words of caution for misapplying statistical techniques or misinterpreting results and will provide pointers to more appropriate references.
About the Authors

author photo Brenda S. Ramírez is an industrial statistician with W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc, where she exploits the use of statistical tools and techniques to aid scientific explorations and process improvements. Prior to coming to Gore, Brenda spent 10 years in the semiconductor industry driving quality programs, such as Six Sigma, and developing statistical solutions for challenging problems. She has an MS degree in Applied Statistics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MS in Industrial and Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Brenda has been an avid user of statistical software from SAS Institute for the past 15 years.

author photo José G. Ramírez, Ph.D. is an industrial statistician who has been using JMP for 15 years as a catalyst to turn data into knowledge. He received a degree in mathematics from Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, and an MS in applied statistics and a PhD in statistics both from the University Wisconsin-Madison. He was one of the founding members of the Center for Quality and Productivity Improvement at the University Wisconsin-Madison. In 1998 (SUGI 23) he won the best contributed statistics paper, and in 2002 he was awarded the SAS User Feedback Award.
