SAS® OnDemand for Academics

What's New?

SAS OnDemand for Academics released a new version in August, 2014. This page documents the major changes.

Registration Application, Control Center Application

Both of these applications have been updated and have a new look and feel. If you are an existing user, you can sign in to the Control Center using your userid and SAS profile password to access existing information.

This site used to be referred to as your home page; it is now referred to as your dashboard. Users can still use it to review their course information and access software applications. Instructors can still use it to create new courses and review course details.

New users must start with the registration application. After registration is complete, users can access the Control Center.

For more information, refer to the Step-by-Step Registration and Installation Guides.

Access to SAS Web Editor (now known as SAS Studio)

All users now have access to SAS Studio software (formerly known as SAS Web Editor). Users do not need to be associated with a course in order to access and use this software. Users simply need to sign in to the SAS OnDemand for Academics Control Center using their userid and SAS Profile password.

For more information, see SAS Studio Registration and Installation.

Updated Software Applications

Available software applications have been updated to the following versions:

In order to access these software applications, an instructor must create a course and invite users (students) to register for that course. For more information, refer to the Step-by-Step Registration and Installation Guides.

Course LIBNAME or FILENAME Statements

If you are an instructor who had an existing course, then the LIBNAME or FILENAME statement for any course data that you uploaded has changed. To determine your new course data LIBNAME or FILENAME statement, see About Your Course Data Directory.

Uploading Course Data

Previously, instructors had to use File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to upload course data. There is now an easier way to upload course data using SAS Studio software. Please see Uploading Course Data for details.

SAS Enterprise Miner Projects

If you previously used SAS Enterprise Miner 12.1 and would like to restore your projects in the new version (Version 13.2), please refer to Restoring SAS Enterprise Miner Projects.

JMP Configuration

Instructors who want their students to access our hosted software using JMP can still perform this step. Instructors must first register, create a course that includes JMP access, and then invite students to register for that course. All users must already have their own copy of JMP software.

Note that using JMP to access our hosted servers is only available to users in the United States. For more information, see Working with JMP.
