arrowResetting Your SAS Profile Password

Your SAS Profile password is valid for 180 days (approximately six months) after you register for SAS® OnDemand for Academics. In many cases, this might be more than enough time to complete a course. However, if you are an instructor, have registered for a course that is longer than six months, or plan to take additional courses throughout the school year, then you must reset your SAS Profile password after 180 days.

If you are unable to log on to a SAS® OnDemand for Academics software application that was previously working and you think that it has been approximately six months since you registered for SAS® OnDemand for Academics, then your current password might have expired.

To reset your SAS Profile password:

  1. Use the My Profile page to select a new password.

    • The password can not be the name that you used to register or exceed two consecutive characters from that name. For example, if you registered as 'Jonathan Smith', you could not use either 'Jonathan' or 'Smith' and you could not include three consecutive characters such as 'jon' or 'ith'.
    • The password must be at least eight characters in length.
    • The password must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
      • English uppercase characters (A through Z)
      • English lowercase characters (a through z)
      • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
      • Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
  2. Log on to the SAS® OnDemand for Academics Control Center using your new SAS Profile password.

This step ensures that SAS® OnDemand for Academics recognizes your new password. You must complete this step before you can successfully use any SAS® OnDemand for Academics software applications.

arrowSAS Server Availability

You are prompted to connect to the SAS Server each time you start SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide. The server (which is hosted at SAS Institute Inc.) remotely processes any submitted SAS files or projects and returns results to your PC.

You can run SAS® OnDemand for Academics: JMP locally and without connecting to the SAS Server. However, a connection to the SAS Server is required to submit or retrieve data files or to run SAS programs.

We expect the server to be available most of the time and make our best efforts to keep unexpected downtime to a minimum. There could be limited times when the server is down to support maintenance, testing, or performance enhancements.

If you are unable to use SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide or SAS® OnDemand for Academics: JMP to perform processing, make sure that you have a working Internet connection. If you do, it is likely that the SAS Server is temporarily down. Please try to use the server again later.

arrowRegular Server Maintenance

  • If server maintenance is needed, SAS will try to perform this work during the hours of 10:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Eastern Time so the server might be unavailable during this time period each day.
  • SAS uses the third Saturday of each month to perform scheduled maintenance on its systems (if needed). Therefore, the server might be unavailable for a portion of time on the third Saturday of each month.
