Usage Note 9432: Recursive Segmentation Violations error when invoking SAS 9.1 on Linux
Invoking SAS 9.1 on Linux may produce the following error message at
the Unix prompt:
Recursive Segmentation Violations - system exiting
The problem could be that the environment variable $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
is set to /lib.
By default, the runtime loader uses the i686 lib versions that SAS
requires. If $LD_LIBRARY_PATH is explicitly set with "/lib" in the path,
SAS will load the non-i686 versions and crash with a recursive
segmentation violation.
To avoid the problem, ensure that "/lib" is not included in the
environment variable $LD_LIBARY_PATH. This will ensure that SAS
will pull in the correct i686 libraries, which normally reside at
/lib/i686.
