If you have installed hot fix 82BB16 for Base SAS Software or the hot fix bundle 82BX04 and you use the FSVIEW window to view a variable whose value cannot be fully displayed, such as a character variable with a length of 200, the value of that variable will not be visible in the FSVIEW window.

To circumvent this problem, you can assign a format to the variable in the FSVIEW window by issuing the FORMAT command as follows,

   format longVar '$60.'

You will need to select a format width that your window can accomodate. If you choose a width that is too wide, the variable values will still not be visible.
