Usage Note 9099: Issues when running z/OS 1.2 and later and using the IBM TCP/IP
directive GLOBALTCPIPDATA
With z/OS 1.2 and later, there are several new IBM TCP resolver
configuration directives. One directive that affects SAS is the
GLOBALTCPIPDATA directive. This is a new directive and is read by
TCP/IP at startup of the RESOLVER. If this new directive is used, it
can cause problems with the SAS resolver. What type of problems depends
on what statements are defined in the GLOBALTCPIPDATA file.
These are the valid statements for the GLOBALTCPIPDATA file:
DomainOrigin/Domain
NSInterAddr/NameServer
NSPortAddr
ResolverTimeOut
ResolverUDPRetries
ResolveVia
Search
SortList
Whatever is coded in the GLOBALTCPIPDATA file will override what is in
the TCPDATA file. Currently, there is no way for SAS to use both the
GLOBALTCPIPDATA file and the TCPDATA file.
The current circumvention, if both files are used, is to merge the valid
information from the GLOBALTCPIPDATA file and the TCPDATA file into one
file and for SAS to pick up that merged file with the SYSTCPD DD
statement (or use environment variables to do the same thing). Sites
could also make sure their TCPDATA file contains the same valid
information as the GLOBALTCPIPDATA file.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
