Usage Note 8803: SAS 8.2 installation fails on Red Hat Linux 8.0
A SAS 8.2 installation will fail looking for the "uncompress" utility,
which does not exist on Red Hat Linux 8.0.
A possible workaround is to create a link from the /usr/bin/gunzip
executable to /usr/bin/uncompress or to copy "uncompress" from an
earlier release of Linux.
This information relates to Redhat and not specifically to SAS but is
provided here for your convenience. Please refer to Redhat with
specific questions pertaining to their software installation:
The uncompress command is not installed by default with current releases
of Redhat Linux. To locate the rpm that contains the uncompress command
you can check www.rpm.net and search for uncompress. As of 1/27/03 the
uncompress command could be found in both the ncompress and sharutils
rpms.
