Usage Note 8538: "NOTE: Unable to open SASUSER.REGSTRY. WORK.REGSTRY will be opened instead" in UNIX environments
When you launch a SAS®
session, SAS checks the directory designated by the
SASUSER system option
(by default, the location of the directory is ~/sasuser.v92
or ~/sasuser.v93)
to determine whether it is possible to write to the Registry file
(regstry.sas7bitm).
If it is not possible, SAS issues the following messages:
NOTE: Unable to open SASUSER.REGSTRY. WORK.REGSTRY will be opened instead.
NOTE: All registry changes will be lost at the end of the session.
SAS also checks to determine whether the Registry file can be read. If the
Registry file is readable, SAS copies the existing Registry settings to
WORK.REGSTRY so that the current settings will be in place for
the new SAS session. If the Registry file is not readable, then SAS
creates a new WORK.REGSTRY file with default settings and issues the
following message in addition to the 2 messages above:
WARNING: Unable to copy SASUSER registry to WORK registry. Because of this,
you will not see registry customizations during this session.
To troubleshoot this problem, see
Usage Note 13838.
For information about a similar message, see
Usage Note 13803: "NOTE: Unable to open SASUSER.PROFILE.
WORK.PROFILE will be opened instead" in UNIX environments.
