SAS Learning Edition 4.1 was minimally tested to co-exist with
Base SAS 8.2 and Base SAS 9.1.3 SP4 when SAS Learning Edition 4.1 was
installed after Base SAS.  Limited support will be provided only when
these products are installed in this order and reinstallation of
software may be required if either SAS Learning Edition or Base SAS
are removed inappropriately.

For pre-4.1 versions of SAS Learning Edition, read the following:

The SAS Learning Edition (SAS/LE) Setup program checks to see if SAS is
already installed. If it is, then Setup reports this and stops.
Instructions on how to circumvent this and install LE on a system that
already has SAS installed follow.

1. Find and temporarily rename the existing SAS configuration file.
   Here are the config filenames for the following releases of SAS:

   6.12--------------------------CONFIG.SAS
   7.00--------------------------SASV7.CFG
   8.00--------------------------SASV8.CFG
   8.01--(Also known as 8.1)-----SASV8.CFG
   8.02--(Also known as 8.2)-----SASV8.CFG
   9.00--------------------------SASV9.CFG

2. Install SAS/LE to a different folder than the currently installed SAS
   release.

3. Rename the initial SAS config file back to its original name after
   SAS/LE installation has finished.

Notes
1. This will put your system into a configuration that has not been
   tested or certified by SAS.

2. This will make the SAS/LE the default version of SAS
   on your system. Therefore, SAS invoked via OLE automation, COM, or
   through file associations (for example, double-clicking a SAS file)
   will open the SAS Learning Edition. To restore the system to the
   prior state, you must re-register the WIN registry information
   manually by executing the following command from the SAS Version 8
   CD:

      D:\sas\setup.exe register

3. Another workaround is to install the release of SAS that you want
   to use after installing the SAS/LE.
