Usage Note 8102: Unable to load national character data in the 128-255 range correctly
into Oracle using SAS/ACCESS Interface to Oracle
When loading a SAS data set that contains national characters into
an Oracle table using PROC DBLOAD, the national characters appear to
translate incorrectly.
In one particular situation, it appeared that when loading characters in
the 128-255 range, they did not load correctly, even though the database
was set for the extended ASCII characters.
This is not a SAS problem. This problem is a result of not having the
Oracle environment variable NLS_LANG set, or having it set incorrectly.
To resolve this problem, have your DBA set the Oracle environment
variable NLS_LANG correctly.
Note: You may want to also check the ORA_NLS environment variable
setting to be sure it is set correctly.
