Problem Note 8034: Segmentation Violation in SAS/ACCESS Interface to Sybase when loading
a table with BULKCOPY on Solaris
You may receive a segmentation violation when using the BULKCOPY feature
of SAS/ACCESS Interface to Sybase on Solaris. The problem can
occur in the first step that loads data into the table, or the first
step may complete successfully and a subsequent load step may fail.
The segmentation error will resemble the following:
Segmentation Violation In Task [ APPEND ]
Fault Occurred at [/lib/libc.so.1:malloc+0x258]
Task Traceback
/lib/libc.so.1:malloc+0x258
...
It is possible to receive a bus error instead of the segmentation
violation:
Bus Error In Task ( DBLOAD ]
Fault Occurred at [/usr/lib/libc.so.1:malloc+0x1a0]
Task Traceback
/usr/lib/libc.so.1:malloc+0x1a0
...
This problem has been corrected in the hotfix below (a new sassyb
executable). The fix requires the current level of your
Sybase Open Client to be Version 12.5, EBF 10183, ESD #5, 32-bit for
Solaris.
A Technical Support hot fix for Release 8.2 TSLEVEL TS2M0 for this
issue is available at:
http://www.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/82_sbcs_prod_list.html#008034
Customers who have installed the hotfix and who are not using the patch
level of Sybase Open Client Version 12.5, EBF 10183, ESD #5 or above,
will receive error messages. The errors may look as follows:
ERROR: Bulk Init Failed: Error Code: -16843013 ct_cmd_prop(): user
api layer: external error: An illegal value of 9199 given for
parameter property.
Upgrade to the correct patch level of the Sybase client to avoid this
error message.
