Usage Note 7109: WHERE expression processed first when used with OBS= or FIRSTOBS=
OPTIONS
Beginning in Release 8.1, applying OBS= and FIRSTOBS= processing to a
subset of data is supported for the WHERE statement, WHERE= data set
OPTION, and WHERE clause in the SQL procedure.
When used with a WHERE expression, the values specified for OBS= and
FIRSTOBS= are not physical observation numbers in the data set, but
rather logical numbers in the subset. The WHERE is processed first
and the OPTIONS are then applied to the returned subset.
See the "Processing a Segment of Data That Is Conditionally Selected"
discussion in the SAS System Help for further information and
examples.
