Problem Note 6874: The option DBGEN_NAME= renames variables incorrectly
In SAS Release 8.2 TS Level 2M0, the DBGEN_NAME= option is renaming
variables that contain invalid characters differently than it is
designed to.
If you specify DBGEN_NAME=DBMS, the DBMS columns are renamed to
valid SAS variable names. Disallowed characters are converted to
underscores, thus a column named "dept$amt" would be renamed to
"dept_amt". If a column is converted to a name that already exists, a
sequence number is appended to the end.
If you specify DBGEN_NAME=SAS, DBMS columns are renamed to the format
_COLn, where n is the column number (starting with zero). For example,
a DBMS column named dept$amt is renamed to _COLn.
Currently, regardless of the option setting, the column variables are
renamed to _COLn. These are valid SAS names but not what is expected for
the DBMS value setting.
