Problem Note 6836: $BINARYw. format produces incorrect results under DBCS environment
In SAS Release 8.2 with DBCS support, the $BINARYw. format produces
incorrect results. The problem is caused by an improper translation
table used within the format.
In order to have DBCS capability, you must be running with the release
of SAS for Asian Language Support (ALS). If you have DBCS capability,
the acronym appears at the top of the SAS Log after SAS invocation.
A Technical Support hot fix for Release 8.2 TSLEVEL TS2M0 (with
Asian Language Support) for this issue is available at:
http://www.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/82_dbcs_prod_list.html#006836
This is fixed in V9 of the SAS System.
