Problem Note 52167: A warning occurs on the Mapping tab when you join a table with itself via aliases in SASĀ® Data Integration Studio
When you use the SAS Data Integration Studio SQL Join transformation and map three or more source table columns to the same target table column, the warning icon appears.
The warning icon disappears after you define an expression that includes all mapped columns.
The generated SQL code is correct and the job runs without error. If you close the job and reopen it, the warning icon reappears on the transformation. The column mappings are lost and they have to be redefined.
To work around this problem, complete the following steps:
- Right-click the job, and then click Properties.
- Click the Options tab.
- Click General* on the panel and select No for the option Generate warnings in code for mappings which have warnings.
- Click OK to save the change.
This procedure ensures that the column mapping issue does not impact code execution. If the option from step 3 is set to Yes, SAS Data Integration Studio generates a Warning in the log, which results in a nonzero return code when the job is run. If the option is set to No, SAS Data Integration Studio changes the message to a Note, and there is no impact on return code.
Note: This workaround does not remove the warning icon on the Join transformation when the job is viewed in SAS Data Integration Studio.
