The SAS 9.3 installation process fails to enable .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 in 32-bit Microsoft Windows 8 and 32-bit Microsoft Windows Server 2012 operating environments.

To work around the problem, enable .NET 3.5 SP1 from the Windows command prompt and then resume the SAS installation. After.NET 3.5 SP1 has been enabled through the windows command prompt, the SAS^® Deployment Wizard still reports a failure to enable .NET 3.5 SP1, but you may ignore the failure.

To enable .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 from the Windows command prompt, follow these steps.

1. For Microsoft Windows 8 Pro, Microsoft Windows 8 Enterprise, and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 operating environments, follow the instructions in SAS Note 48410:.

   If your operating system is Windows 8, start with step 2.

2. At the Windows Start screen, enter cmd.
3. The Command Prompt appears in the search results.
4. Right-click Command Prompt and select the option to Run as Administrator.
5. When the Command Prompt opens, enter the following command into the Command Prompt and press Enter.
"C:\Windows\system32\dism.exe" /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /all /NoRestart /Quiet
6. Retry the installation of SAS 9.3.
7. The SAS Deployment Wizard still reports a failure to enable .NET 3.5 Service Pack 1. This is expected. Click Continue to proceed with the installation.
