Usage Note 5812: PROC IMPORT fails when importing Microsoft files when MDAC 2.70 is
installed on the machine
You may encounter problems when using PROC IMPORT to import MSACCESS and
EXCEL files on a machine which has MDAC 2.70 installed. Various errors
could occur but most likely the machine will hang requiring you to end
the SAS session.
This problem is a result of a change Microsoft made in MDAC 2.7. Please
see Microsoft's web page for information about MDAC support.
A Technical Support hot fix for Release 8.2 TSLEVEL 2M0 for this
