Problem Note 5196: Cannot register an MDDB if SAS/MDDB Server common products not licensed
Starting with Version 8 of the SAS System, you could invoke the Metabase
window directly via the METABASE command instead of having to call it
from within SAS/EIS Software. Only Base SAS is required now to invoke
the Metabase window and register your SAS tables into a repository.
There is a problem though if you want to register an MDDB into your
repository. If you are running on a machine that does not have SAS/EIS
Software, SAS/MDDB Server Software, or SAS Olap Server Software licensed
or installed, you will not be able to select an MDDB to register. The
MDDBs that may exist in your SAS data library will not be displayed so
they cannot be selected for registration.
The SAS/MDDB Server common products component comes with SAS/EIS
Software, SAS/MDDB Server Software, and SAS Olap Server and contains the
common components for each of these products. Part of the registration
process currently is dependent on a class that is only available when
the SAS/MDDB Server common products component is installed.
To circumvent, you will need to register your MDDBs on a machine that
has SAS/EIS Software, SAS/MDDB Server Software, or SAS Olap Server
Software installed so we can find the correct class from the SAS/MDDB
Server common products component.
