Problem Note 4982: CPU time significantly higher with SQL pass-through to DB2
The CPU time needed to run an SQL pass-through job accessing DB2 in
Version 8 may be significantly higher than in Version 6. This occurs
when the SQL query generates a warning message from DB2. When the
warning occurs, the SAS/Access to DB2 engine calls DB2 to retrieve the
warning message. DB2 reloads its message retrieval routine for every
call to the routine, and thus for every row that the DB2 engine
fetches. In Version 6, SAS does not go through this message retrieval
process for warnings.
