This SAS Note describes the logs and debugging tips that are available to you if you are installing SAS 9.4 under z/OS.
The following log files are created by the SAS 9.4 installation and configuration process and can be helpful in troubleshooting. If you cannot resolve the problem by looking at these logs, please collect all logs and send them to SAS Technical Support.

Logs from the SAS 9.4 SAS® Download Manager and SAS® Deployment Wizard
These logs are located in the following directory. Notice the "." that precedes SASAppData.

This directory contains the following log files:
esdclient_date-and-time-stamp.log (For the SAS Download Manager)
SDW_date-and-time-stamp.log
deploywiz_date-and-time-stamp.log
setup_date-and-time-stamp.log
sdwpreferences.txt (New in SAS 9.4)
Logs from SAS® 9.4 Foundation Installation and Maintenance
These logs are located in the following directory:
SASHOME-directory/InstallMisc/InstallLogs/
The names of these log files are based on the following convention:
IT_date-and-time-stamp.log
Logs from the Configuration of the SAS® Intelligence Platform Servers
These are located in the configuration directory in the following location:
SAS-configuration-directory/Lev1/Logs/Configure/
Note: You Might Need to Retry the Installation
Based on the results of your troubleshooting, you might find that the SAS installation did not succeed and that you need to start the process over. If this is the case, use the following steps:
- Delete all data sets that were created with the specified high-level qualifier.
- From OMVS, delete your SASHOME directory:
rm -rf SASHOME_directory_path
- Navigate to the installing user ID's home (example: /u/userid) and delete the .SASAppData directory.
Note: This is a hidden directory and is not shown by some commands.
- Navigate to your SAS Software Depot directory and execute the setup.rexx command again.
