Problem Note 48905: Conditional highlighting rules for a crosstabulation table might not be applied as expected in SAS® Web Report Studio
Beginning with version 4.31_M2, SAS Web Report Studio enables you to create conditional highlighting rules that are based on character data items as well as measures. According to the SAS Web Report Studio User's Guide, the order of precedence for applying the rules to crosstabulation tables is:
- measure
- inner row category
- outer row category
- inner column category
- outer column category
The following display identifies the positions.

When you print the report, the PDF applies highlighting according to the documented order.
However, when the report is displayed in the browser, the precedence rules are:
- inner row category
- outer row category
- measure
- inner column category
- outer column category
