Beginning with SAS 9.3, if you invoke your SAS/AF application using the INITCMD invocation option and your SAS/AF application generates SAS output to the Results window, the Results window might not display.

When invoking an application using the INITCMD option, other SAS windows besides the SAS/AF window are disabled in order to give your application front-end a more polished appearance. Therefore, windows such as the Log, Editor, Output, and Results are in a closed state.

To open the Results window when invoking an application using the INITCMD option, you can add the following ODS statement to your SAS autoexec file, or to the beginning of the SAS code that generates the output to the Results window:

   ods results;

This difference in behavior with INITCMD is related to changes made in SAS 9.3 for Display Manager to modernize the look of SAS output. This includes displaying your SAS output via the Results window. See SAS Note 42874 for more information on these Display Manager enhancements.
