Usage Note 45639: "ERROR: Unable to open the model SCL in update mode. The compile has been terminated." might appear when compiling SAS/AF® SCL code
If you attempt to compile the model SCL code for the SAS/AF SAS Data Set model class and you do not have write access to the catalog that contains that SCL entry, you might receive a compiler error like the following on the SAS message line:
ERROR: Unable to open the model SCL in update mode. The compile has been terminated.
You might also receive this message if you access the SAS/AF catalog via a SAS/CONNECT RLS (Remote Library Services) library, or if you access the SAS/AF catalog via a SAS/SHARE library when the remote SAS session has different architecture than the local SAS session and you attempt to compile SCL code in that remote library.
For example, one user received this error when his SAS/AF application was surfaced through a SAS/SHARE library running 64-bit SAS and the SCL code called the _setSource method on the SAS Data Set model in an attempt to compile the model SCL. This failed because the local SAS session attempting the compile was running 32-bit SAS.
