Usage Note 45257: The SAS® FILENAME EMAIL engine and support for CSSMTP in a z/OS operating environment
With the SAS option EMAILSYS=SMTP, the FILENAME EMAIL Access Method connects directly to an SMTP email server (sometimes referred to as a smart host). Communications Server Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (CSSMTP) is a mail-forwarding SMTP client application and is not a replacement for an SMTP email server. CSSMTP does not listen for incoming SMTP connections.
In SAS® 9.4 TS1M4 and earlier, there is no SAS interface for CSSMTP and you must use the Workaround.
Beginning in SAS® 9.4 TS1M5, there is a SAS interface to CSSMTP with the FILENAME EMAIL Access Method. Refer to the FILENAME Statement, EMAIL (CSSMTP) Access Method section in SAS® 9.4 Companion for the z/OS Environment for details.
Workaround
A workaround when using CSSMTP is to set the SAS EMAILHOST system option to one of the CSSMTP configurations values (TargetIp or TargetName) used in TargetServer statements in the CSSMTP.conf file.
Notes
For details about the CSSMTP configuration, contact your email or network administrator.
For details about the differences between CSSMTP and SMTPD, refer to IBM documentation about CSSMTP.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
CSSMTP does not replace the SMTP email server.
When CSSMTP is used, SAS® systems still work directly with the SMTP server.
