Problem Note 44984: Graphs generated by SAS tasks in the SAS® Add-in for Microsoft Office might generate incorrect results when input data is filtered in Microsoft Excel
Graphs created in SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office using SAS tasks do not display correct results when data is filtered in Microsoft Excel after the graph has been created. The following steps demonstrate the behavior:
- Open Microsoft Excel and select the SAS menu.
- Add data to the Microsoft Excel sheet (using SAS data sets or another source).
- Use a SAS task to generate a graph and select all values as input to the task.
- After the graph is created, use the filtering functionality of Microsoft Excel. Base the filter on a column that is not sorted.
- Refresh the graph generated by SAS.
Notice that the graph still displays the data that you have filtered out. The graph displays all of the data between the first and last selected observations of the input data.

After creating a graph in the SAS Add-in for Microsoft Office, filtering the input data in Excel might not give the correct results. Specifically, the graph does not exclude data that is not visible.
