FSEDIT is a text-based, data-entry interface within the SAS/FSP® product. The FSEDIT display screen can be customized to enable you to personalize the layout and to reposition the data-entry fields on the screen display. In order to enhance the data-entry interface that you are designing, you can modify the colors for different elements of the FSEDIT screen.
This sample provides details for modifying the text color for the two areas of an FSEDIT screen.
To make any screen customizations, you must be in the FSEDIT Modify interface, which you activate by issuing the MODIFY command from the FSEDIT data-entry window.
To change the color of the label or informational text on the FSEDIT screen, select option 2, Screen Modification and Field Identification from the FSEDIT Modify menu. In the Modify menu, you can change the text color by using one of the following two methods.
Method 1
You can change the color of new text to be typed, or to type over existing text by issuing the command:
COLOR TEXT colorname
For example:
COLOR TEXT BLUE
After you issue the sample command, any new text that you type in will be typed and displayed as blue text.
Method 2
If you want to change the color of a block of existing text, you can follow the steps below, again within the Screen Modification and Field Identification option off the FSEDIT Modify menu. You must issue the KEYS command and define a function key to the MARK command, or verify which function key already has been defined to the MARK command.
COLOR MTEXT BLUEThis will change the marked areas to a text color of blue.
You can also change the colors of the data-entry fields on the FSEDIT screen. From the FSEDIT Modify menu, select option 4, Assign Special Attributes to Fields. At the top of the window, the title is FSEDIT Attribute: INITIAL. If you use your page down keys, you can toggle through various field attribute panels. Page down until you see the window title of FSEDIT Attribute: FCOLOR. This panel lets you change the field color for your data-entry fields. The Message line shows you a legend of what each letter maps to for field color, and you can type that letter into the field beside the screen field to change the display color.
Similarly, if you also want to change the field attribute for a field (for example, to reverse video or underline), you can page down to the FATTR panel in order to make the necessary changes. After you have made the necessary field attribute changes, you can end out of the Field Attribute windows to save your changes.
For more information on using FSEDIT and customizing the data-entry environment, see the
SAS/FSP 9.2 Procedures Guide.
