Problem Note 41904: Invalid PROC SQL syntax might cause SAS® to lock and continue to display Running Proc SQL in the Task Status window in SAS® Enterprise Guide®
The Task Status window might continue to show "Running PROC SQL" even though the SAS server nor the database is executing. Additionally, the log might be empty. This problem can occur when submitting explicit pass-through code connecting to an RDBMS such as Teradata that contains invalid syntax such as a missing parenthesis. You can right-click on the "Running PROC SQL" item and select STOP to end the process. To circumvent the problem, closely check for invalid syntax before submitting the code. And, if you are using SAS Enterprise Guide 4.3 or later, you can use Ctrl+I in the code window to help find invalid syntax before submitting the code.
