When you install SAS 9.2 (T2M3), which came out with revision 10w20, several logs are created in the process. These logs can be sent to SAS Technical Support to help troubleshoot the installation if you encounter problems. The most important log files are the bootstrap.log, the sdw.log, and the mit*.log files, which are described below.

If you run the SAS^® Deployment Manager, an sdm.log is created in the same directory as your bootstrap.log file.

Where to Find the SDW.log, bootstrap.log, and SDM.log Files

SAS 9.2 (TS2M0) Logs

• For SAS 9.2 (TS2M0), several logs are created in the SAS InstallMisc directory.

  SASHOME\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\9.2

  For example: C:\Program Files\SAS\InstallMisc\InstallLogs\9.2\sasinstall_date_installed_time_installed.log.

  Here are some of the logs that are stored here:

  • sdwprefs.txt: Contains the choices or preferences that you used during the installation (for example, where the SASHOME directory resides). Here is a sample of what it might contain:

  • Bootstrap.log: Bootstrap returns and displays formatted and unformatted operating system level information and error messages. Bootstrap is an application that performs the invocation of the SAS Deployment Wizard on Windows. An example of what it might contain:

  • SDW.log: Log for the SAS^® Deployment Wizard. Here is a sample of what it might contain:

  • DeploymentSummary_date_installed_time_installed.html: Provides a summary of the installation, whether the installation was successful or if it completed with warning or error messages. Here is a sample of what it might contain:

  • SDW_sysinfo_date_installed_time_installed.dat (for example: SDW_sysinfo_20090327_012345.dat): Contains the information about the system and information about the SAS products that are installed. Here is a sample of what it might contain:

  C:\Program Files\SAS\SASFoundation\9.2\core\sasinst\reserved\sas.log contains a list of the products that you have selected. For example:

  If your temporary directory has not been cleaned up, the sassetup.log is still there. The sassetup.log is usually located on Vista at C:\Users\userid\AppData\Local\Temp\{FF40E37A-032D-4BF2-ACFA-4BA9CF8C255D}\{F9390B82-786C-43CF-A970-D39E23EF0366}. If it is not there, refer to the sasinstall*.log filef.
