Problem Note 40157: SAS® 9.2 ignores SGIO processing in a Windows x64 operating environment
SGIO processing is mistakenly ignored when both of the following conditions are true:
- SGIO processing is specified either by the SGIO system option or the SGIO=YES data set option
- you are reading a data set that is created with SAS in a Windows x64 operating environment
However, while you are creating the data set, SGIO correctly bypasses the Windows system file cache.
Note that when this issue occurs, no error message or warning is displayed.

See the technical paper, "Achieving Better I/O Throughput Using SGIO in the Microsoft Windows Environment" for information on SGIO processing.
