Problem Note 4936: OS/390 spawner does not detect expired OS/390 passwords
When signing on to the OS/390 spawner in Version 8 of the SAS System
with an MVS user ID whose password has expired, you receive the
following error message stating that the password is incorrect:
ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request
failure has occurred.
ERROR: Communication request rejected by partner: security
verification failure.
ERROR: Remote signon to HOSTNAME.SERVICENAME cancelled.
A Technical Support hot fix for Release 8.2 TSLEVEL TS2M0 for this
issue is available at:
http://www.sas.com/techsup/download/hotfix/82_sbcs_prod_list.html#004936
Without the hotfix, the spawner can not distinguish the difference
between an invalid password and a expired password and errors
out with a security verification failure. You have a couple of choices:
1. Use a SCRIPTED signon to the OS/390 Spawner after the above hot
fix has been applied. The sample script that we ship will work
with the hot fix and prompt you when your password has expired.
2. Use a scriptLESS signon and the password is expired, SAS issues
a message stating, "your password is expired, you must change
the password via normal logon.
