Usage Note 4484: File types currently supported by SAS® Enterprise Guide®
The Import Data Task in SAS Enterprise Guide can be used to convert the following file types to SAS data sets. In all cases, the Import Data task imports the values only from cells and not from other elements such as macros, functions, and queries.
DAO_XLS .XLS
DAO_XLSX .XLSX (SAS Enterprise Guide 4.2 and later)
DAO_MDB .MDB
DAO_DBF .DBF
DAO_TXT .TXT
DAO_CSV .CSV
DAO_ASC .ASC
DAO_TAB .TAB
DAO_DB .DB
The following SAS files can be opened directly in SAS Enterprise Guide.
V7_LONG_EXT .SAS7BDAT
V7_SHORT_VIEW_EXT .SV7

V7_SHORT_EXT .SD7
The following SAS files can be opened directly in SAS Enterprise Guide via LIBNAME statement.
V6_EXT .SD2
V604_EXT .SSD
V6_UNIX_EXT .SSD01
V6_VIEW_EXT .SV2
Many other file types can be opened via ODBC, OLEDB, LIBNAME statement (for example, Oracle), or as is (for example, HTML).
