Problem Note 4359: PROC MEANS/SUMMARY/TABULATE/REPORT may produce additional classification
groups and not apply format to printed output
PROC MEANS/SUMMARY/TABULATE/REPORT may produce additional classification
groups when a w.d format is pre-assigned to a numeric CLASS or GROUP
variable. This behavior happens because the procedure is not using the
format when classifying the data. This should only affect numeric data
with lots of precision whether real or spurious such that the format
would have rounded the data when grouping.
PROC MEANS/SUMMARY/TABULATE/REPORT may also not apply a pre-assigned w.d
format to the printed output.
To circumvent these behaviors, format the numeric CLASS or GROUP
variable within the procedure or specify the name of Fw.d to the format
in the DATA STEP. Fw.d and w.d formats are equivalent, but the Fw.d
format does not get ignored when building groups.
