Usage Note 4264: -LOG, -ALTLOG, -PRINT, and -ALTPRINT system options require a file
(not a directory) in V8
In Version 8 of the SAS system, you must specify a file for the
-LOG, -ALTLOG, -PRINT, and -ALTPRINT system options. If you
specify a directory name instead, you will receive this error:
ERROR: Invalid file /tmp/mydirectory
This behavior differs from that of Version 6.
In Version 6, SAS detects that the supplied path is a directory and
creates the log file in that directory. The name of the log file
will be the same as the name of the .sas source file and will have an
extension of .log.
