Overview

By default, SAS Web Report Studio 4.2 logs are written to <SAS-config-dir>\Lev1\Web\Logs. This location is used for the General Purpose Log, as well as the Key User Action Log. (The other SAS Web applications also use this shared location to write log files.) The SAS Web Report Studio General Purpose Log does not have a rollover mechanism enabled by default, which means that the log can grow to be quite large, and, in some cases, unmanageable. As the General Purpose Log grows in size, it also depletes the space available in this directory. This sample shows you how to enable a rollover mechanism for the General Purpose Log that is based on file size.

Enabling the rollover mechanism

1. Log into SAS Management Console as an unrestricted user and expand Foundation Services Manager ► SASWebReportStudio4.2 Local Services ► Core. Right-click on Logging Service and select Properties.

   

2. On the Service Configuration tab, click Configuration.

   

3. On the Outputs tab, select SAS_LS_FILE and click Edit.

   

4. In the Edit Service Logging Output tab, select the Size option and enter a value for Maximum Backup Index and Maximum File Size. The Maximum Backup Index field specifies the number of backup files that are maintained. The Maximum File Size field specifies the maximum file size for the log file before rollover occurs.

   

5. Restart your Web application server to begin enforcing your changes.
