Problem Note 37764: HEADTEXT values are limited to 256 characters
The ODS MARKUP statement option HEADTEXT is valid on the ODS HTML, HTML3, and PHTML statements. Values specified with the HEADTEXT= option that are greater than 256 characters long are truncated. If you have a string or information greater than 256, you can add it using a tagset.
In order to place information with a longer length in the header of an HTML file, a macro variable workaround with PROC TEMPLATE is offered in the Full Code tab. As an alternative, the PREHTML or POSTHTML tags can be updated with code found in Usage Note 23645.

For software releases that are not yet generally available, the Fixed
Release is the software release in which the problem is planned to be
fixed.
The sample code creates a macro variable with a length longer than 256 and adds the text to the header of an HTML file by adding it to the DOC_HEAD event.
ods path (prepend) work.template(update);
proc template;
define tagset tagsets.test;
parent=tagsets.html4;
mvar yyy;
define event doc_head;
start:
put "" NL;
put VALUE NL;
put xxx;
finish:
put "" NL;
end;
end;
run;
%let yyy=<script> this is a string of text %sysfunc(repeat(aaaab,51)) that ends here.</script>;
ods tagsets.test file="temp.txt" path=".";
proc print data=sashelp.class;
run;
ods tagsets.test close;
HEADTEXT values are limited to 256 characters.
