Problem Note 37308: Decision Tree and Variable Selection nodes give errors: "too little memory available for a subtask ..."
If you run the Variable Selection node, the Decision Tree node, or any other node that involves tree–based methods, then SAS® Enterprise Miner™ might produce the following Run Status:
A problem has been encountered on the server
If you view the results, the Run Status window displays this error:
Error: System error - program halted in server workspace method.
An error occurred while running this node. Please refer to the SAS log
component of this node's results for more information.
If you scroll down in the node log, this error is displayed:
ERROR: Too little memory available for a subtask.
The problem occurs if one or more of your variables has a format name containing more than 15 characters.
To work around the problem, make sure that format names contain no more than 15 characters.
Neither long variable names nor long variable values cause this problem. The problem arises only when the format name is long.
