Usage Note 36382: The new HP Neoview Library template connection in SASĀ® Management Console supports both the DSN= and the SERVER= options
SAS Management Console 9.2 Phase 2 supports the use of the HP Neoview engine in creating HP Neoview libraries directly with the newly created HP Neoview Library templates. With this new support, both the DSN= and the SERVER= connections options are available via the following radio button options:
- NEeoview Server Information—This connection uses the SERVER= option. It requires the HP Neoview Server IP address or server name to be specified as its value.
- ODBC datasource information—This connection uses the DSN= option. It resolves the data-source name from the MXODSN file (which is similar to the ODBC.INI file for ODBC libraries).
Be aware that errors will occur if you select one of the buttons and enter the wrong option value. For example, you select the Neoview Server Information button, but you enter a DSN= value instead of a SERVER= value. Or, you select the ODBC datasource information button and you enter a SERVER= value rather than a DSN value. The errors that occur are as follows:
ERROR: CLI error trying to establish connection: [HP][HP ODBC
Driver][NDCS Services] ODBC SERVICES NOT YET AVAILABLE:
01!S!.00ASSOCIATION SERVICE: Platform: UNIX, Transport:
TCPIP, Api: GETOBJREF, Error type: DRIVER, Process: DEV-ETL-
01-R:18650, Operation: OPEN_SESSION, function: CONNECT,
error: 0, error_detail: 0, error text:Error 0.
ERROR: Error in the LIBNAME statement.
These errors can occur when you try to reference the HP Neoview library in any of the following ways:
- You submit a LIBNAME statement directly from Base SAS® software or from SAS® Enterprise Guide®.
- You attempt to import tables from SAS Management Console.
- You reference the HP Neoview library, which was created in SAS Management Console, from other clients, such as SAS® Data Integration, SAS® Marketing Automation, or SAS Enterprise Guide.
To resolve these errors, be sure to provide the correct value for DSN= or SERVER= option depending on which way you want to connect.
