Problem Note 34260: A segmentation violation occurs when you import Microsoft Excel files with column names that contain multiple underscores
In SAS® 9.2C, when you import Microsoft files in UNIX environments and on other 64-bit platforms that use the XLS engine, the following segmentation violation can occur:

The problem occurs in SAS 9.2C because of an error in the column-checking routine when a spreadsheet has two or more columns that either contain multiple underscores or that share a common prefix before an underscore (for example, the prefix EMPLOYEE in EMPLOYEE_NAME and EMPLOYEE_ID). These files import properly in SAS® 9.1.
To circumvent the problem, rename one of the columns so that it does not contain underscores, or use the EXCELCS engine with the SAS PC File Server.
