Problem Note 32935: SAS/ACCESS® Interface to Neoview now takes advantage of the Neoview ODBC driver's 4MB Read/Write buffer
You might experience performance issues with SAS/ACCESS Interface to Neoview because the software is not taking advantage of the Neoview ODBC driver’s optimal buffer size. You might also receive the following error message when the INSERTBUFF= or the READBUFF= options are set to a value greater than 32767:
Error: Option value out of range for the INSERTBUFF or READBUFF option. Maximum value is 32767.
The Neoview ODBC driver has a 4MB Read/Write buffer. However, in SAS/ACCESS Interface to Neoview, the default values for the READBUFF= and the INSERTBUFF= options are too low. To prevent users from running out of memory, SAS/ACCESS Interface to Neoview was initially implemented with the calculation for the default value based on a 32KB buffer size. However, with Neoview's large buffer size, this limit is unrealistic.
Select the Hot Fix tab in this note to access the hot fix for this issue.
Note: After you install the hot fix, you might encounter a situation where the READBUFF= option does not respond. This behavior occurs, in particular, with Neoview ODBC Driver 2.3 for smaller tables (those that have a row size of less than 128 bytes). The problem appears to be a Neoview ODBC driver issue, and it only occurs with small tables. The option works fine for wider tables with more columns. Currently, there is no solution for this problem. In Neoview ODBC Driver 2.2, the application actually returns fewer rows than is expected from smaller tables (for example, a query that should return 154,000 rows might only return 23,000 rows.) There is currently no solution for this problem, either.
