Problem Note 31038: "Microsoft Visual Basic Run-time error '13': Type mismatch" after installing SAS® Financial Management 4.4 Hot Fix 1 or Hot Fix 2
When navigating a report in SAS Financial Management 4.4 with Hot Fix 1 or
Hot Fix 2 applied, you might encounter the error:
Microsoft Visual Basic Run-time error '13': Type mismatch
This will most likely happen when you open a form that is utilizing the SAS Financial Management API in a Visual Basic script.
To circumvent the problem, perform the following steps.
- Open the SAS Financial Management report in Microsoft Excel.
- On the Excel toolbar, select Tools ► Macro ► Visual Basic
Editor. A Microsoft Visual Basic window will appear.
- In the Microsoft Visual Basic toolbar, select Tools ►
References.
- In the list of available references, navigate to SASESExcelAddin and de-
select the reference.
- With the SASESExcelAddin still highlighted, select Browse.
- Navigate to:
<drive>\Program Files\SAS\SAS Financial Management\Add-in for Microsoft Excel
Note that the directory is "\SAS Financial Management\" not "\SASFinancialManagement\".
- Select SASESExcelAddin.tlb and select 'Open'.
- Verify that the SASESExcelAddin reference is selected in the Microsoft Visual Basic window.
- Select OK and then exit out of the Visual Basic Editor.
- Save your report by selecting SAS Solutions ► File ► Save
Template or SAS Solutions ► File ► Save Form Design from the Excel menu bar.
You should now be able to successfully work with the SAS Financial Management API in your report.
Update for Hot Fix 2
If Hot Fix 2 is applied to a system that already has Hot Fix 1 applied, this error will occur. It should not occur if Hot Fix 2 is applied to a base system.
