Usage Note 30665: Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) might not work when a proxy server requires authentication
When you try to download a SAS product via Electronic Software Delivery (ESD)
through a proxy server that requires authentication, the SAS® Download Manager might not connect through the proxy server.
When you are prompted for the http server, the
port, the proxy user ID, and password, this initial warning appears:
Connection to SAS Not Established.
This proxy requires authentication. Please provide your proxy
userid and password.
When you type the proxy user ID and password, this message appears:
The order information could not be retrieved. Possible problems include the order number and installation key not
being correct, a network problem, or some other error.
Please contact SAS Technical Support. Refer to the Software
Order E-Mail for contact information.
When you inspect the C:\Documents and Settings\<user id>\Local
Settings\Application Data\SAS\SAS Deployment Wizard\SDW.log file,
this message appears:
Warning: Attempted to contact proxy, but received an AUTH required response.
If the proxy information you provide when prompted is accurate but the prompt persists, additional debugging information can be generated to the SDW.log file by canceling out of the Download Manager then taking the following steps:
- Select Start>Programs>SAS>SAS Download Manager.
- On the Choose Language window, select and release the 2 key on your keyboard then click OK.
- Download.
By doing this the SDW.log file will then contain additional information that may be helpful in debugging the problem.
Contact SAS Technical Support for assistance and be prepared to send the order number, installation key, and sdw.log file.
