Problem Note 3597: Incorrect number of variables in output data set when audited files used
The number of variables returned in an output data set may be incorrect
if the data set is created from a SAS procedure which uses an audit
input file and a DROP/KEEP statement.
This does not happen if a file is not being created for output from the
audit input file. For instance, you can use DROP/KEEP with PROC PRINT
without a problem. Only SAS procedures that create output data sets
from audited input data sets with a DROP/KEEP present that have the
problem.

This problem is also fixed in Release 8.2.
