Usage Note 22070: How to display a custom error message in the FSEDIT window when a field is in error
If you have an FSEDIT SCL program that places variables in error and generates a custom error message, you should see this custom error message after you enter incorrect values in more than one field and press ENTER. However, if you correct one of the fields and press ENTER, you might not see your next custom error message. Instead, you might see the default message:
ERROR: Data value is not valid. Please reenter.
To have your custom error message display, add the statement
to the INIT or FSEINIT section of your FSEDIT SCL code. This statement causes statements in the MAIN section to execute when you modify a field even if another field is in error. Because MAIN now executes when you correct the first of your variables in error, you will get your custom error message for the remaining variables in error.
