Usage Note 20941: Uploading Files to the SASĀ® Technical Support anonymous FTP server
When you send a file to Technical Support via our anonymous FTP server, name
your files beginning with the letter T, followed by your tracking
number. For example, name your file T7610007420.zip, where 7610007420 is
your tracking number. This assists us in identifying your uploaded file.
Command line method:
At the system or DOS prompt, enter this series of commands:
prompt> ftp ftp.sas.com
Name: anonymous
Password: [blank]
prompt> cd /techsup/upload
prompt> bin
prompt> put [filename]
prompt> bye
Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 9 method:
- Select Tools ⇒ Internet options.... In the tabbed dialog box, select the
Advanced tab and ensure that you have checked the Enable FTP folder view
(outside of Internet Explorer) check box.
- Navigate to the URL ftp://ftp.sas.com/techsup/upload/
- To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer: press Alt, click View, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.
- You are now connected. Use Windows Internet Explorer to drag and drop the file you want to upload onto the browser window. This will send the file. Note that filenames should not include spaces or special characters.
Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer 7 and 8 method:
- Select Tools ⇒ Internet options.... In the tabbed dialog box, select the
Advanced tab and ensure that you have checked the Enable FTP folder view
(outside of Internet Explorer) check box.
- Navigate to the URL ftp://ftp.sas.com/techsup/upload/
- Click the Page icon on the Internet Explorer toolbar and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer. (If there is no Page icon, you may need to add it to your Explorer toolbar. To do this, right-click on the toolbar, select Customize Command Bar, select Add or Remove Commands. This will bring up the Customize Toolbar window and allow you to add the Page icon to your toolbar.)
- The Windows Internet Explorer window will display ftp://ftp.sas.com/techsup/upload/ but will show no files because this is a blind FTP area. Select File ⇒ Login As....
- In the Login As dialog box that is presented, check the Log on anonymously check box and click the Log On button.
- You are now connected. Use Windows Internet Explorer to drag and drop the file you want to upload onto the browser window. This will send the file. Note that filenames should not include spaces or special characters.
