Usage Note 20939: SAS® OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide® does not prompt for the user ID and password upon launch
When you launch SAS OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide, a Connecting window that contains the text "Connecting to
sascloud.sas.com" appears. The Connecting window should be followed by the Credentials Required dialog box, in which you enter your user ID and password to connect to the SAS® cloud. However, in some cases, the Credentials Required dialog box does not appear after you launch SAS OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide. To work around the problem, delete the ConfigurationV43oda.xml file and then relaunch the software.
Delete the ConfigurationV43oda.xml file
The ConfigurationV43oda.xml file is located by default in the following directory (according to your operating environment):
- Under Windows XP environments:
C:\Documents and Settings\your-userID\Application Data\SAS\MetadataServerProfiles\ConfigurationV43oda.xml
- Under Windows 7 and Windows Vista environments:
C:\Users\your-userID\AppData\Roaming\SAS\MetadataServerProfiles\ConfigurationV43oda.xml
After you have deleted the ConfigurationV43oda.xml file, relaunch SAS OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide.
If the Credentials Required dialog box still does not appear, try resetting your password. Follow the instuctions under "General Support" in the E-Book to reset your password.
Reset your SAS Profile password
To reset your password, follow these steps:
- Access the My SAS Profile page and then enter your e-mail address and current password.
- Click the Change Password link. You will be prompted to select a new password. Note the following rules:
- The password can not be the name that you used to register or exceed two consecutive characters from that name. For example, if you registered as "Jonathan Smith," you could not use either "Jonathan" or "Smith" and you could not include three consecutive characters such as "jon" or "ith."
- The password must be at least eight characters in length.
- The password must contain characters from three of the following four categories:
- English uppercase characters (A through Z)
- English lowercase characters (a through z)
- Base 10 digits (0 through 9)
- Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)
Now delete the ConfigurationV43oda.xml file again and relaunch the SAS OnDemand for Academics: Enterprise Guide software.
