Usage Note 20497: How to apply the setinit for SASĀ® Metadata Bridges
If you license any SAS Metadata Bridge (sometimes referred to as an MIMB, or MITI bridge), which allows you to import or export metadata between SAS and other metadata-based third-party products, SAS provides a setinit for your metadata server machine. However, the software for these bridges is installed on the client machine where your SAS® Management Console or SAS® Data Integration Studio applications are installed.
After you have installed the bridge on the client machine, the first time that you try to access the bridge via the Import Metadata or Export Metadata tools in SAS Management Console or SAS Data Integration Studio, you are prompted
for the location of your setinit on the client machine.
This might cause confusion when the metadata server is running on a different operating system than the client machine. For example, if your metadata server runs on a UNIX or mainframe platform, you receive an SID file that contains a setinit for that UNIX or mainframe operating system. But, if you then install the metadata bridge on a personal computer, that computer requires access to the SID file for personal computers.
To activate the metadata bridge for your environment, perform the following steps:
- Copy the metadata server SID file to your client machine.
- Rename the SID file so that it has an .sss extension.
- When you are prompted, supply the path and filename of the renamed .sss SID file in SAS Management Console or SAS Data Integration Studio.
