Usage Note 20363: Integration Technologies Configuration utility's Test Connection produces "Server Execution Failed"
When connecting to the Local SAS server with the SAS Integration Technologies Configuration utility or SAS Enterprise Guide, you can receive the error "Server Execution Failed" even while the local SAS invocation is successful. To troubleshoot, do the following:
- Select: Start > Run and enter REGEDIT
- Navigate and expand:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\
{440196D4-90F0-11D0-9F41-00A024BB830C}]
- Click on Localserver32
- Right-click the key in the right panel and select 'Modify'
- A dialog box will open including the associated command used to invoke
SAS
- Copy the SAS command from the dialog box
- Open a DOS command prompt and paste the SAS Command and submit the
command line.
From within the Windows Task Manager, confirm the presence of a sas.exe running process. If the executable is missing from the process list or if you receive an error, remove the -nologo, -noterminal, and -noxcmd parameters from the command line and resubmit the command. A subsequent dialog box will display additional error diagnostics.
