Usage Note 20293: "User does not have permission to perform this
action" when attempting to add a new Foundation metadata repository
During a BI Server installation, when you are performing the steps in
the instructions.html file, you may receive the following error message
when you attempt to add a new Foundation metadata repository:
User does not have permission to perform this action
This message will appear if incorrect information was entered for the
machine name or server name of the computer during the SAS Configuration
Wizard process or if the machine name information was deleted from the
SAS required account dialog boxes during the SAS Configuration Wizard
process.
During the SAS Configuration Wizard process, you are prompted for the
passwords for the SAS required accounts, and the SAS Configuration
Wizard will automatically populate the machine name and account
information (for example, the SAS Administrator account dialog box
may have something like testbox\sasadm, where "testbox" is the first
part of the machine's full computer name of testbox.na.sas.com).
It is recommended that you do not change the information that the SAS
Configuration Wizard automatically presents in the SAS required account
dialog boxes, unless for some reason you need to specify a different
machine than the one you are on.
If you do change the information that the SAS Configuration Wizard
populates, then it may be necessary for you to do the following in order
to successfully add the Foundation metadata repository:
- Stop your SAS Metadata Server from running
- Remove all SAS Services manually (see 012462 for details on
removing services), or by using the SAS Services Configuration Utility
located off of the SAS 9.1. Utilities menu. Details on removing a
service using this utility can be found in the manual "SAS Companion for
Microsoft Windows" in Chapter 9 "Using Windows System Tools with SAS under Windows" (http://support.sas.com/onlinedoc/913/docMainpage.jsp).
- Uninstall the SAS Configuration Wizard by going to Start>Settings>
Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs.
- Reinstall the SAS Configuration Wizard, and when the SAS
Configuration Wizard prompts you for the password for the SAS required
accounts, do not change the machine name information that is already
pre-populated by the SAS Configuration Wizard. You should only need to
enter the password information.
- Once a new instructions.html file is generated, you should now be
able to add the new Foundation metadata repository
